Online Safety

Here at ZinZam we take your safety online very seriouly. We do our best to protect you online, however there are some responsibilities you need to look after yourself for. The internet is a public place and the same dangers lurk online as in the real world.

Safety Tips

  1. Be aware of stranger danger. Never give out personal contact information to strangers over the internet. Smarter people than yourself have been caught out.
  2. Keep personally identifyable information out of public view. Things like street signs, house number, license plates, and GPS co-ordinates can put you or others in danger.
  3. People aren't always honest. Even with a picture people may not be who they say they are. If you must meet someone, do it in a public place and bring a friend or guardian. Be sure to tell people you plan to meet someone from over the internet before you do it.
  4. Cyberbullying. If someone makes you feel unconfortable online, don't hesitate to block them. If they continue to harras you, report it to ZinZam. More resources on dealing with cyberbulling can be found at Reachout.com.au.
  5. Run the latest security software. Wether using Windows, Linux or MAC OSX, it is important that you keep up to date with the latest security software. Be sure to be running the latest version of your web browser (including any security patches issued), a firewall, and Virus protection.
